- Why The BBC Is A Greater Enigma To Sri Lanka's War Against Terrorism Than Prabhakaran And The LTTE.
23rd Dec-2008 -Insight By Sunil Kumar For LankaWeb -A news story posted in the Asian Tribune website refering to BBC bias towards LTTE - states that "yesterday the BBC's bosses - persuaded by LTTE proxies - have taken upon themselves the burden of imposing their version of democracy and freedom of expression on Sri Lanka by making us listen to whom the majority here treat as vermin. The news report states that all went topsy-turvy when LTTE sympathizers hijacked Sandeshaya and the BBC Tamil Services with the outbreak of the Tiger insurgency. - Boosting terrorism to defend 'democracy'
22 December 2008 -By Janaka Perera -We grew up learning from the BBC a much respected organisation in the past – following BBC guidelines, BBC ethics etc." But all that went topsy-turvy when LTTE sympathisers hijacked Sandeshaya and the BBC Tamil Services with the outbreak of the Tiger insurgency. Today the BBC's bosses - persuaded by LTTE proxies – have taken upon themselves the burden of imposing their version of democracy and freedom of expression on Sri Lanka by making us listen to whom the majority here treat as vermin. The whole job of the Sinhala and Tamil Service clowns today is not to educate and entertain the non-English speaking audiences about Europe but to recycle Sri Lanka's political garbage and send them back to us.
- SLBC Chief responds to BBC antics
15 December,2008-By Janaka Perera-This was Sri Lanka Broadcasting Chairman Hudson Samarasinghe's response to a complaint by BBC's South-East Asia Regional Head saying that the SLBC had violated the agreement with his organization by jamming the broadcast of LTTE 'Sun God' Prabhakaran's so-called Heroes Day speech, last month.
Speaking on the Isira Radio Channel's daily news discussion program on Sunday (Dec.14), Samarasinghe said that he preferred to violate an agreement rather than betray his country. He reminded the BBC that earlier too (some years back), he had violated the agreement by stopping the broadcast of the BBC Sinhala Service program titled 'Kittugen Ahanna' (Ask Kittu) conducted by arch Tiger supporter and former Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation Chairman, Vasantha Raja. In this program, the latter regularly interviewed LTTE strongman Kittu who was later killed in high seas.
- WFP Director apologises for 'Somalia comparison'
11 December 2008 -Courtesy: news.lk -World Food Program (WFP) country director for Sri Lanka, Mr. Adnan Khan today (Dec 10) apologised to the Sri Lankan government over a story filed by the BBC Sinhala service quoting a WFP official, John Cambell, who said IDPs in Sri Lanka live in conditions similar to those in Somalia.
- RSF- reporters sans borders or morals?
17 December 2008 - Lucien Rajakarunanayake Director - Policy Research & Information Presidential Secretariat -Our attention is drawn to your statement of December 12, 2008 relating to the media in Sri Lanka titled "BBC World Service and Sunday Leader newspaper censored".
Referring to what is described as the "the latest cases of government censorship of international and local news media" it is stated that "one of the country's most outspoken newspapers, the Sunday Leader, has been forbidden to refer to the president's brother."
- Reporters without Borders - exposing their Borders: What price "Freedom of the Press"?
17 December 2008 -Jeanne Jayasinghe President Society for Peace, Unity and Human Rights for Sri Lanka, Vic-Australia - Reporters Without Borders have taken umbrage at the Sri Lanka government's action in blocking out the BBC Sinhala service "Sandeshaya" programme rebroadcast by SLBC.
The Sri Lankan Diaspora welcomes this move by the Sri Lanka Government and the SLBC. This has been a long time coming.
The BBC Sinhala service, on many an occasion gave the impression that it was no more than another propaganda arm of the LTTE from the time Vasantha Rajah hijacked the programme.
- WFP continues to dispatch food convoys to Wanni: Refutes BBC report
15 December 2008 -SL Defence -While refuting a BBC Sinhala service news report, intended to draw a 'hunger crisis' in the Wanni region in Sri Lanka, WFP officials issued a press release asserting the BBC report as a "regrettable statement based in the form of a personal opinion".
"Statements given by staff members do not necessarily reflect the official policy of WFP", the communiqué‚ further read.
Following is the full text of the WFP press release.
- WFP apology for BBC falsehood on Sri Lankan IDPs
10 December 2008 -SLDefence - World Food Program (WFP) country director for Sri Lanka , Mr. Adnan Khan today (Dec 10) apologized to the Sri Lankan government over a story filed by the BBC Sinhala service calling Sri Lanka a Somalia.
The BBC Sinhala service paddling on its not so hidden agenda, had quoted a comment made by one Mr. John Cambell, a WFP representative in non-liberated areas that "conditions for displaced people there are as basic as in Somalia".
- Orchestrating disaster: Duplicity of reporting
7 September 2008 - By: Lucien RAJAKARUNANAYAKE-The efforts of the foreign media to create the impression of a humanitarian crisis in the north is buttressed by another BBC story that appeared on its web site BBCSinhala.com on August 28, which quoted a purported communication from the "Catholic Church" in Sri Lanka addressed to UN Secretary-General relating to Internally Displaced Persons in the Wanni, which gave a totally wrong position on the situation prevailing in the Vanni.
The report was a communication to UNSG Ban Ki-Moon relating to IDPs in the Wanni and the "human tragedy" supposedly unfolding in that part of Sri Lanka. The letter had allegedly been sent by one Father James Pathinathan, who is said to be President of the Peace and Justice Commission in the Wanni.
- Parroting Pathos - the BBC Sinhala Service pronounces
2 September 2008 -by: Prof. Rajiva Wijesinha-I write with reference to yet another misleading feature in the coverage by the BBC Sinhala Service of the Sri Lankan situation. On August 27th, it headlined an item ‘Catholic Church writes to Ban ki Moon’, whereas the report was about a letter sent by Fr. James Pathinathan, President of what is termed a ‘Justice and Peace Commission’.
The letter was full of errors and emotive language, for which the BBC of course cannot be blamed. Nor can Fr. Pathinathan, since the poor soul seems to be in LTTE held territory, and cannot therefore be held responsible, by man at any rate, for his errors.

It never ceases to sicken me the way in which the BBC seems
to be besotted with the loathsome Keith Vaz. In this story,
note how they use Vaz to try and undermine Boris Johnson. Pathetic
stuff - ever since Boris won the BBC have been doing everything
possible to try and get their pal Livingstone back into office
next time round. That's one reason why Red Ken is never off
the BBC. I know Boris has his frailties, and he says many things
I do not agree with, but quite frankly this sort of petty nonsense
is just a bit of character assassination.-Full

WHEN
TERRORISTS MEET.

Nice to see the BBC portraying IRA godfather Gerry Adams as
a man of peace as he visits Hamas and claims these genocidal
anti-Semites want a peace agreement. The BBC item is just one
more instance in which the appeasement of IRA terrorism and
the betrayal of common decency here in Northern Ireland is retailed
as a template by the UK Government for "conflict resolution"
around the world. I wonder how the thousands of victims of IRA
barbarity feel about the BBC's sanitisation of Adams past? Note
how Adams equates the actions of Hamas and Israel, in line with
BBC required moral relativism..-Full

Tamil Tiger
rebels fighting for a separate homeland in north-eastern Sri
Lanka have given exclusive access to the BBC to film their fighters
taking part in military exercises. It's the first time the Tigers
have allowed outsiders to see them training for an attack. Their
aim is to show that despite being branded as a terrorist group
in many countries including Britain - they've made the transition
from a guerrilla group into a conventional army -Full
